This was my second year racing the Rev3 Knoxville Olympic distance triathlon. Next year will be my third year, it's one of my favorite race courses and race locations! I was really happy with how the race weekend went. I got to spend great time with other athletes and teammates, thanks to the fact that many of us stayed in the host hotel (which had spacious rooms and great amenities, including free internet, thanks Holiday Inn Worlds Fair Park!). And I enjoyed checking out the new Lazer Helmet colors at the expo. [caption id="attachment_3622" align="alignnone" width="149" caption="Two of my favorites... Lazer + Rev3!"]...
I raced my first triathlon of 2012 on April 14 outside Las Vegas. After racing one super fun small Xterra last year, and after spending more and more time on my mountain bike to the point of justifying a gorgeous upgrade, I decided to race the Xterra USA championship series this year! Las Vegas was the first stop. The swim was pretty normal, there isn't a whole lot you can do to make an off-road triathlon's swim more "rugged" than an on-road triathlon's. It was a little bit cold though. My swim was OK, I started out on a girl's feet and after a couple hundred meters I realized hey wait a minute, this girl is SLOWER than me! ...
I’m all introspective because this was the last race of my season. But I have a quiz to write so I’m bailing on my original plan of writing a playlist-themed race report, complete with samples and instrumentals. It was getting predictably over-involved and I’m probably the only one who would have thought it was awesome anyway. But I will tell you that Crystal Castles’ Vietnam, off their second eponymous release, was playing in my head for virtually all 4 hours 42 minutes that I was racing. It was a good choice – "I'm alive", indeed (side note yes I know that's not the exact lyric in the song sampled, Walk in the Park, but that sure is ...
Yesterday I raced the REV3 Knoxville Triathlon. I was really happy with my race, and the weekend will go down as one of my favorite race weekends in a long time! I flew in on Friday on the same flight as fellow Boulderites Matt Reed and Julie Dibens. Ahem, cough, we are all totally important, including me, since I know them, so I’m really famous, etc. Except as I was congratulating myself on being special, they rolled out of baggage claim with a driver to deliver them to their hotel rooms... I wrestled my overabundance of luggage onto a Smarte Carte to tromp over to America’s most inefficient car rental counter. Famous indeed! On the plus side, instead of a hotel room, ...
And I can't wait to share it with you all - here's a taste: Team Trakkers/REV3 2011 from REVOLUTION3 Triathlon on Vimeo.
Yesterday morning I went to the class I am TA'ing, Environmental Policy. Next Tuesday the professor won't be there, so I get to lead class (bwahahahaha), but actually I am just supposed to talk for a few minutes and then show a movie based on the book Cadillac Desert. The professor asked for a show of hands for who read the book... I was the only person who raised my hand. Yes!!! Credibility! Yesterday afternoon I had Data I (a.k.a. Statistics), two hours in the computer lab going over constructing political science datasets, etc. Come to find out we will be working a lot with Excel. I have been in love with Excel since I was 16! I ...
