Fans angry that you can’t buy a Wales football shirt for women, but it’s a different story if you’re English

Welsh football fans are fuming that kit manufacturers have failed to produce a replica shirt designed for women ahead of the country’s first appearance at a major tournament since 1958.

football shirts UkThe Football Association of Wales has so far failed to explain why kit manufacturers Adidas have not produced a Wales shirt for women, despite the fact that they have done so for Germany, Spain and Sweden – with the latter featuring a bust-flattering round-neck style.

Rival manufacturers also produce a number of shirts to fit women.Nike’s ladies England home football shirts for 2016, priced £49.99 is described as “cut specifically for ladies” ensuring an “amazing fit.”Wales’ sole kit distributor JD Sports Fashion plc has confirmed it does not stock the shirts in a women’s fit.

The move has led to criticism that the FAW has failed its own Euro 2016 campaign slogan .Wales fan Sian Matheson said: I think it’s a disgrace that in this day and age the FAW don’t have a shirt designed for female supporters.

She said the men’s shirt, which costs £55, will be poorly fitting on most women.“A men’s shirt won’t be flattering (they weren’t in the 90s) and won’t fit properly.“This is poor form by the FAW to not even consider an option for women.“The Euro 2016 campaign slogan has been but this is clearly not the case when it comes to women and the merchandising side of this campaign.
