I raced Rev3 Maine this past weekend. My first race all summer! I was so excited to be there! But, even after all the changes and all the time and hard work and money dumped into fixing the searing back/hip/leg pain I’d had in the Spring, even after pre-emptively loading up on 4000 mg of ibuprofen in the 2 days before the race, my race experience felt like deja vu.
It hurt.
So, now I know. Now I know it’s not just that my legs are different lengths, because I have addressed that and have seen no improvements. The next step is to add another type of imaging to the X-Rays I already have. I in all my medical expertise have decided that it’s a torn labrum but I have an appointment with someone who actually does have some medical expertise and I think I’ll defer to his judgment. But I hope it’s a labral tear, I really do. Then we’d know what to do to address it and then I could stop having these thoughts that it’s time to hang up the bike, that it’s just not worth it to be in so much pain.
Nevertheless the race weekend was great. I’ll post a proper race report, right now I’m off to class and wanted to let inquiring minds know a few details.

I hung up the bike due to pain on June 3. It sucks, and it’s permanent, for me. BUT – I will be crossing my fingers and toes that your pain is from a torn labrum and you will get it repaired and get back at it. My ex had a labrum repaired. He’s 100% now.
