A couple weeks ago, I got a totally kick-rear-end mountain bike. I love it!

But I’m still a bit scared. I can’t wait until I finally stop apologizing to other riders out on the trail, saying “sorry, it’s my first time riding it.” Which, only one out of 5 times so far has that been the truth. But still, I’m keeping my spoke protectors and handlebar “caution” sticker on there as long as possible, you know, for newbie-authenticity’s sake.

I am a total newbie. Trails that seem fully wide and safe and bomb-able when I am on two feet morph into insurmountable (i.e. dismount and walk) death-traps when I am on two wheels. I feel a little bit like this girl:

Learning to Ride

Aside from the walking away bit ;) . It can be hard to take up a new activity and realize I am not very adept at it, but on the plus side, I’ve never been anywhere that made me want to hit the trails more than Boulder does. On each ride I see improvements, and I arrive home antsy to ride again. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Beautiful trails! I’m in the same boat too. I feel like a complete idiot at times, but each time I am able to ride something that I think will make me fall or that I consider walking it is a huge boost of confidence!

If you (and Adam) ever want to come ride in Boulder with me, let me know!
I was in Golden last weekend at some park (green mountain or something), my friend was like “oh don’t worry, this is mountain biking for beginners!” and I thought I was going to die.
