My goal for the weekend is to get at least one grad school application submitted (out of seven total). Latest obstacles to this goal include:
-discovery of yet another essay I need to write (”describe a situation where you displayed leadership”)(my tweaking skills will be put the test here. I think my community service essay is going to double as a leadership essay… same thing, right? The other choice would be to write about starting the VAC Cycling Team but ugh, that sounds boring.)
-Columbia requires a “quantitative resume” in addition to a regular one. The quantitative one has all my pertinent coursework (yay transcript), what I learned (yay online course descriptions and courses that still exist 10 years later), and what projects/papers I did (um, hah.) It also has to have a bunch of skills learned during jobs and the like - this is proving harder to compile because my jobs don’t have online course and skill guides.
-I still have another legitimate essay to write. For two of my programs I need to choose a public policy issue and write about it. I am thinking I will write about animal cruelty issues - illustrations will be the currently-pending Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act, dolphin slaughter in Japan as uncovered in The Cove, and another to-be-decided example.
-I’m supposed to scan and upload a copy of my transcript. Not a big deal, but I won’t be able to do that until Monday, which is not this weekend, so I’ll be late on my goal regardless of whether I finish these other essays and resumes.
So anyway, I’m working on it. Like last week, I’m almost done. I want to hurry up and finish so that I can have time to start my cycling training for the winter, as of right now I am just swimming, running, and working on strength and flexibility, plus working and doing chemistry, plus staring at my computer, plus coughing like crazy from stupid H1N1. I feel so busy. Did you know there is a pig emoticon? It’s :(:) . Piggy! By the way, the hospital confirmed that my H1N1 test came back positive. So I’m not just saying I had swine flu. I really did.
OMG latest most current obstacle to finishing some applications this weekend: I think we are going SKIING tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!
