We are heading down to Portland in a couple of hours, for the Freshwater Trust Portland Triathlon this weekend. It was a last-minute decision for me and I am excited about it. Yay for racing into shape
!
Relatedly, I shelled out the big bucks for my winning photo from Danskin. I finally realize why you are supposed to pick up the finishing banner and hold it over your head when you win, rather than just running through it like they do in the movies. You can’t see my sponsor logos! Oops! But I still like the photo.
Last night we sailed the boat for 3.5 hours. It was reeeeeeally windy on Lake Washington, the boat was laying over the whole way down to Laurelhurst and we definitely got wet! Exciting. We moved the boat from the top of Lake Washington back to Ballard – we’ve had it anchored up here for the summer but Ben is leaving for a little over a month and Ben’s dad says the boat can’t stay anchored up here unless Ben is here to deal with its driftings and tanglings and messes (we’ve had several). I’ve come to enjoy sailing this summer, I hated it at first but as I learned how to do stuff it got fun. Yesterday I was kind of over it though, I was tired and got coerced into leaving work early to sail, so I still have leftover work to do on my day off, which isn’t that big a deal I guess. More annoying though was that it is impossible not to move around a small boat in strong winds without banging into stuff. My shins, ankles, and feet are super sensitive and it just kept HURTING. By the end of the sail I was back to hating sailing and the boat was back to being stupid. Maybe after some time off I’ll forget the bruises and decide sailing is fun again.
