Today, I made a wrong turn during my run and subsequently enjoyed an extra 15 minutes of alone time in the fog while wearing my glasses instead of my contacts and splashing in puddles. It was fun. Somehow this week running has been my favourite :) . Yesterday cycling was not quite my favourite at all, partly because my toes were cold the whole time (which is prompting me to break down and buy some toe heaters even though they are wasteful and bad for the environment, because long rides with cold toes are wastes of time for me and are so bad for my training and ME ME ME is more important than the environment, right. OK maybe I ...
So my super "Which Masters Swimming Team to Join" Research Project is almost over. I have tried out a whopping two programs so far, the first one was a bust and the second one is seeming to be a fit! I like the coach, I like the pool, there's a swimsuit extractor there (yay), I like the 5am - 6am time slot, and I like the people. THAT SAID, I am totally asking if I can switch to a different lane on Monday. My lane wasted soooo much time today with a discussion of which order to do IM strokes in for the 100s and which order for the 50s and can we have a refresher of which order we're doing ...
To celebrate the New Year, today I updated my schedule and sponsors pages for 2009! Eleven weeks and counting till my first race... I'm so excited I have to wear shades!! (I know, I know, that is not how the song goes). Between Jen's workouts and Team VAC training camp in February I should be ready. More importantly, thanks to Splish, Specialized, et al., I should be looking good. In completely other news, my mom has emailed me three times in the past two days asking/pleading/ordering me to email her my photos from Christmas. Even though I'd really enjoy ...
And my head feels like it's going to explode from the enormity of having to actually wake up. Prior to napping for three hours, I finished my 3 hours of training for the day at 10 a.m.! This might be a case of me congratulating myself for something that everyone else thinks is no big deal, sigh. I know there are tons of early-birds out there in blog land and in real-people land, which is why there are so many freaking lap swim times and masters swim programs here in Seattle that are at like 5 a.m. I am going to try out one or two masters programs this week ...
I actually took a nap last Monday at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. OMG so tired! Then the next morning I flew back to the West Coast, spent a couple of days in the Bay Area getting organized and having fun and taking a nap. OMG so tired! Then Ben and I drove to Seattle! We got here yesterday, after some Denny's and In n Out and an overnight in Kelso, Washington thanks to a snowstorm and us being sleepy. OMG so tired! During the drive we read an article in a recent New Yorker about New York's "hip hop cop". In the article was an anecdote ...
