Whoa, someone totally hacked into my site yesterday and wrote a really whiny blog, OMG. What is some peoples' problem. Anyway today was another sunny and beautiful winter day in Seattle. I started my ride with the Herriott Sports Performance drop ride, known as the "Rocket Ride" and I think this is a VERY appropriate name for reasons that are kind of PG-13 or maybe R: it's 98% boys, everyone attacks out of the stoplights, more than a few ride their race wheels, there is a climb starting at mile 3 so there is not much of a warmup because real men don't ride warmup pace up a hill, you might get my drift here... Anyway I swore off this ride ...

My site is looking a little sad. I just checked out my archive section and confirmed what I already knew: distinct dropoff in posts over the past two months. Sorry. And I'm not even sure it's a quality over quantity situation. Before I had stuff I wanted to say but no time. Now I have time but nothing I want to say, nothing positive anyway. Ben's gone. I'm in a new and still unfamiliar place. It's winter. I have $5. I don't have a job. 48 Days to Go

I have exactly 60 seconds before bedtime so I guess this will be quick. I took Ben to the airport today, he's off to Brazil followed by Hawaii followed by Florida and then home to Seattle in April. April?! April?!?!?! I just moved here and you're gone till April?!?! But not so fast. I actually new about this trip back in August, after we had become talk-everyday-for-forever friends, yet before we'd actually spent any time together in person. Which is why I planned on winning the Xterra Nevada 10k, I was going to win that free ticket and go on a Spring 2009 Hawaii Training Camp, where I'd finally meet the famous Ben Collins! Planned Parenthood

I was going to sneak that into the body of my post, that phrase Planned Parenthood, but no. Why be sneaky about it? Maybe I have a false conception (haha, I said conception) of a sort of widespread puritanical ethos in this country when it comes to sex, contraception, STI's, all that health class stuff I giggled about in high school and promptly forgot until my mid-20s or so. Or maybe I'm right and people don't talk about Planned Parenthood. Pardon the Silence

No news on the blog this week is not a sign of anything other than the fact that I Have Been Busy. Plenty of things to blog about, just not enough time. The weather here in Seattle has been great all week. Not a drop of rain, and enough sunshine to warrant sunglasses every day! Both Ben and I had big training weeks so we were grateful for the nice weather. It's been a good week for checking out different routes for riding and running. Yesterday I went to the nearby high school track for the first time, where I did some running drills and entertained Ben during his intervals. Today I climbed up Cougar Mountain for the first ...

sprriiiIIIIIINNNNGGG BREAK!!

My little sister totally made my day yesterday. BECAUSE, even though she is 21 and cool and in college and batting off boys with a stick, she can't think of a funner way to spend Spring Break than with me, on a beach, in Hawaii. Yay! It will be just like our Hawaii trip last September, but with a slight change in our itinerary (no Big Island) and our travel companions (Ben has some big shoes to fill - my mom's!). And our favourite Oahu resident, brother Than, will be there to chauffeur us around in his fancy car and to make sure we aren't bored. Speaking ...

Calling the Circulation Department

So I haven't drafted my Hire Me I'm Awesome craigslist posting, I was going to do it yesterday but the day somehow COMPLETELY disappeared from under me. (Today is on its way to doing the same.) Anyhow yesterday after swimming, I rode with Robin, a bike racer girl who lives nearby. We both needed to log 3-ish hours in the saddle so we headed out to ride around Lake Sammamish, a new loop for me but not for Robin. It was so fun! She took me on some crazy circuitous route that I could never in my life replicate, probably because I was paying much more attention to the conversation than the road :) . Ugh. Nothing. Napping.

O.K. so just to clarify, from yesterday: I totally don't have a job. I just meant that since I don't have all the proper I.D. (god) I can't even work until at least next week, even if someone were giving me a job, which they aren't, not yet anyway! Speaking of: today, my mom called me. "Hi Sweetie!!! SO, what are you doing to find a JOB today?!" "ugh. nothing. napping." Somehow she's really good at eliciting very teen-aged responses from me. I identify with Jeremy from Zits really well. “It’s In my Storage Unit”

I thought I was so incredibly organized. Turns out, I'm only kind of organized. I have a nice list of stuff that I kind of sort of would like to have right now but it's not here, it's in my Storage Unit, in California, 850 miles away... Extra drink mix, extra water bottles, my xacto knife, the Hawaiian Airlines gift certificate I won at Xterra Nevada, long-sleeve technical t-shirts for running, DVDs to watch on the trainer, a brand new Polar Heart Rate Monitor that I swear I have in there somewhere but I tore everything apart before I left and couldn't find it so I am pretty sure it's in my storage unit but I'm not positive, and, AND AND ...

Doffing Spandex and Sweatpants

...and donning Fancy Interviewing Clothes. That's what I did today! And then I headed downtown for a job interview! After a busy day of stubbing the crap out of my foot (it bled), doing 3 loads of laundry (not including folding, yet), napping (not for long enough), swimming (my new lane is awesome), eating, etc etc etc, oh and missing the bus that only comes once every half an hour. Thankfully I budgeted in 30 minutes of being-confused time. Even more thankfully, Ben was also downtown so he waited for me after my interview and we rode the bus home together! So.
