My mom just said this to me on the phone when I mentioned something I was going to freak out about (there is always a lengthy freakout list so I can't remember the exact thing)... For all of you who know me and my mom personally: is this not a pot calling kettle black situation?!? Anyhow the reason for the call was that I got a slightly panicked "Hi Sweetie!" voicemail from her today, she was concerned because she hadn't heard from me in a few days AND on top THAT I hadn't blogged in a few days either! So where was I?! Was everything O.K.?!? (see what I mean about pots and kettles?) So I had to call her ...
I am out of my regular colored paper, although thanks to Liz I won't be out for long! I posted a plea on Facebook for someone, anyone to please go to Flax for me... I called all the art stores within 50 miles of me and no one carries the paper I am looking for. High school ties remain strong - even though it's been over 10 years since I have seen her, Liz answered the call. I am so excited for my new paper to arrive!!! But anyhow, tonight's little design went on the crane paper that I have been saving for nothing in particular. I actually think it's so appropriate - what luck!...
-I spent $40 on nail polish yesterday! But see, I saved money at the same time, because I got the tip about this site from the current Allure magazine which I borrowed from the gym. I saved the full newsstand price of $3.50. AND, my nails are going to look so good (I got Au Chocolat and Bikini Bottom). -My birthday suit arrived and it looks *awesome*!! I can't wait to wear it, and to order more suits from Splish, I am so impressed with the quality and the look of it. I packed it already. Even though I don't leave for L.A. for another week, I don't want to forget it! -SPEAKING of swimming. I am so ...

Yesterday I had a totally Tahoe day... After my ride on the Flume Trail, I headed to the beach! And I even got in the lake, for the first time since 1990 when my family came here on vacation. It was cold, just like I remembered it. I actually really wanted to nap on the beach, but I couldn't. For one thing it was pretty hot, but the bigger factor was the pack of 7 year old girls playing nearby, one of whom had a dad who kept yelling at her that she was a total brat and a mean, unsupportive big sister (I witnessed evidence of neither but ...
I am sore, tired, and happy. Today I headed up the mountain on my cyclocross bike, my first ride on it since the 2006 cross season! I went up Tunnel Creek Road and then the Flume Trail (part of the Xterra Nationals bike route actually) to Marlette Lake and Spooner Lake. It was so awesome! I cannot believe I have been in Tahoe for 10 months now and I've been riding on the roads the whole time - the trails are *so* much better!! Great views, great variety of terrain, and no cars. And it was just so beautiful and so so fun! It was a bit of an ambitious ride for me, for one thing my bike is ...
My watch/heart-rate monitor saga seems to be never ending!! I have blogged about it several times but just to get everyone up to speed... Over the past 10 months I have gone through ~4 Timex Ironman heart rate monitors, they all had to be warrantied for one reason or another. There is still one outstanding watch on warranty, but it's been about a month since I sent it in and I haven't gotten a new one so I think Timex has officially cut me off, at least for that string of watches. So last month, I decided to pony up the big bucks for a hardy Polar RS100, mostly because Polars are a lot more reliable but also because it has a ...
Just one pony actually. Last year, I waited until December before embarking on a handmade Christmas card project. Pretty much all I did that whole month was sit on the couch and cut paper - all for a measly 25 cards! By the time I got to actually writing in the cards, it was hurried drivel, "happy christmas and stuff!" sort of thing. This year I am determined to get started earlier, like now-ish. I'm hoping that soon I will find a design I like enough to make it over and over and over again! Here's a pony. Not 100% happy with it, but it is a little darling, and I gotta go to bed so I can be fresh and ...
Back when I lived in the Bay Area and like actually hung out with people all the time, I had a frequent blog category entitled "quotables" - basically, funny things people said. Unsurprisingly, this category has been ignored for most of the past year here in Incline! Which is a bummer, because it was/is one of my favourites. Anyhow I have a couple good ones from the bike race this weekend... 1. Guy (who I have met before) is chatting me up: Him: So yeah, I'd love to take you on a date next time I am in Tahoe. Me: That would be cool. Us: bla bla bla for like 10 minutes Him: What's your name again? Um, huh? I forget people's names too but there is ...
I've been working on this design on and off all summer somehow, anguishing I think because it might be better as a watercolor or oil. But, my series-of-the-year is cut paper because that's how I am seeing my ideas best, simplified down to silhouettes. Maybe next year I'll get back to painting ;) .
